Back to the snow....

We recently returned from a wonderful visit to Southern California - 75 degrees and sunshine suits us well, though the Reno weather has been trying awfully hard to be just as nice. Carson finally met his Grandpa Stephen, his Great Grandma Nilda and his Great Grandpa Gerald and he's counting down the moments until he can get back out to visit again...as are we. After the 8 hour drive, Nick has vowed to never drive down again. He has set the rule...flying only. I, however, am terrified of flying and would rather drive 15 hours than muster up the courage to endure a 1 hour flight. After he experiences sitting next to me during such an ordeal, he'll probably agree. Besides, hauling all of the baby's things proved to be a bigger project than I had anticipated. Too many 'what if's' to prepare for. I can't imagine cramming so many what if's into an overhead bin on an airplane. Secretly, I think Nick will get over it. I keep telling myself it was the bumpy drive through a snow storm in the 1972 Jeep he captained on the way back that turned him sour on the whole idea. We'll see. For now, we're still day dreaming about the ocean, sunshine, great food, and even greater company.

And the newest addition to the family, picked up in California. The 1972 Family Wagoneer.

Carson continues to grow in leaps and bounds. His last doctor's appointment (three weeks ago) had him weighing in at 13lbs 2 oz and stretching to 24 inches. We're still not sleeping through the night, though on occasion he will go several hours, teasing me and thinking we might be on our way. Unfortunately, most of the time he thinks he is starving if his tummy isn't full every three hours, so we are up - 13lbs tells me he isn't withering away and should really try to get more rest. At least let his mommy get some. Perhaps someday I will convince him. He loves coming to work with mom, playing with the stuffed animals on his playmat and batting at the rattles and musical frog on his carseat. He's smiling bigger than ever, slobbering quite a bit, and is trying really hard to laugh out loud. It won't be long! He babbles continually and thinks he is telling us something really special. Being that we are as crazy about him as we are, we think it is pretty special too.
